Effect of light on laying eggs
Jan 03, 2019

To stimulate and maintain the balance of laying eggs, the laying hens were controlled by light. In addition, light can regulate the sexual maturity of reserve chickens and make the hens start production orderly, so the light control before and after the start of production is very critical. Modern high-yielding mating hybrid strains have the ability to start production earlier, and appropriate early light stimulation can make the start time of new hens advance properly, which is conducive to reducing feeding costs. Chickens with body weight or slightly larger than the standard body weight can increase the light hours to 13 hours at 16-17 weeks of age, then increase 20 minutes a week until the light hours reach 16 hours, while chickens with low body weight should start light stimulation at 18-20 weeks of age. Illumination hours should gradually increase, if the sudden increase of light time is too long, it is easy to cause anal prolapse; illumination intensity should be appropriate, not too strong or too weak, too strong is easy to produce pecking addiction, too weak will not play a stimulating role. The light intensity of new hens bred in sealed house is too weak during the growing period. The light intensity before and after parturition should be 10-15 lux. The new hens bred in open house are influenced by natural light during the growing period. The light intensity should be kept in the range of 15-20 lux before and after parturition. Otherwise, the light effect is poor.
